Sawn & profiled timber
Green power

Pfeifer has its seat in Kundl since 1978. We produce here in the Tyrolean Unterland trimmed timber, planed goods, timber pellet and thanks to the closed added value chain and the energy reuse of bark also green power for about 12.000 families.

Pellet pioneer in Central Europe

In the high-performance saw mill in Kundl, Pfeifer cuts about one million cubic meters of timber per year. About 150,000 tonnes of timber pellets can be produced here per year. In the past 5 years, Pfeifer has massively invested in the expansion of pellet production in order to react among others to the strongly increased demand by the Italian market.

History and development since 1978

Takeover by Pfeifer Group

Pfeifer starts the acquisition of the existing saw mill in Kundl for the first time with the production outside of its original seat in Imst.

Pfeifer integrates a first chipping line in the Kundl plant.

First big technological innovation

A great product idea

Pfeifer starts in Kundl the production of timber pellets - the begin of a success story. Kundl becomes then one of the major wood pellet plants of Central Europe.

Energy revolution

The first power plant starts to work. Bark is thermally transformed into green power and heating for sawn timber drying and to dry the sawdust for the pellet production.

Much more green power

Pfeifer puts the second green power plant into operation. Both power plants are equipped with the most modern filter systems.

Modern planing

With the new construction of the high performance planing plant, Kundl strenghtens its status as supplier of high quality planed goods.

Sawn timber impulse

The new established sawn timber sorting meets the highest standards in terms of quality and efficiency.

New pelletising

A new construction and expansion of the pellet plant significantly increases the production capacities.

The packaging in the sawmill and automatic slat laying are brought up to date.

New administrative headquarters

Groundbreaking ceremony for a four-storey wooden building with 38 modern office workstations and meeting rooms. Completion took place in the summer of 2019.

Annual optimisations

Commissioning of a new post-sorting system including a scanner.

New construction of the saw line.

New construction of the log yard, the access road to the plant and the saw feed to the sawmill.

Connection of a new sorting system.
