At the end of January 2023, the Austrian Pfeifer Holding GmbH had successfully completed the acquisition of the Finnish wood processor Pölkky Oy. Petteri Virranniemi has decided to resign as CEO of Pölkky for personal reasons.

The Board of Directors respects this step and thanks the outgoing CEO for his work over the past years. "Petteri Virraniemi has initiated long-term course in terms of corporate organization, management and investments at Pölkky, which form the basis for further corporate development under the umbrella of the Pfeifer Group," Michael Pfeifer, CEO of Holding GmbH, pays tribute to Virranniemi's merits. “The company is now in good hands and Pölkky’s outlook is strong”, Petteri Virranniemi states. Josef Dringel, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Pölkky Oy, will also assume the role of CEO for the Finnish sites on an interim basis from February 9th 2023 onwards.

Pfeifer had made its expansion into Nordic countries public at the end of December 2022. With the acquisition of the largest private wood processing company in Northern Finland, Pfeifer will become the third largest wood industry in Europe.
