In the interview, Christian Siegl talks about his career path, his role in technical purchasing, and what drives him in his work.

My education and career so far:
In 2000, I began my training as an industrial mechanic. I then worked as a qualified tradesman in the workshop. In 2010, I started further training as an industrial foreman, with Pfeifer covering the full cost. From 2014 to 2022, I was deputy head of mechanical engineering, and since 2016 I’ve also been responsible for technical purchasing in Unterbernbach. Between 2017 and 2019, I completed further training as a technical business administrator, with full days off granted for the coursework. In 2018, I also trained as a railway operations manager for private sidings. In 2022, I decided to pursue my passion for purchasing further and moved into the Technical Purchasing department at Pfeifer Holding GmbH.
My day-to-day tasks:
Working in Technical Purchasing at Pfeifer Holding GmbH is my main role. In practice, that means price negotiations and drawing up agreements on delivery terms and framework conditions with external contract partners and suppliers, which the plants’ operational purchasing teams can then draw on.
I was part of the project team that introduced the SAP MM (Materials Management) module, and I’m now one of two key users for SAP MM in Unterbernbach.
What fascinates me about working at Pfeifer:
We have a great team, and I really enjoy the work. Varied tasks and new challenges every day keep me motivated.
Qualities I need to succeed in my field:
“Flexibility with working hours and strong teamwork skills are important.”
What motivates me in my daily tasks:
If we don’t do our work well, machines or even entire plants can grind to a halt. That’s motivation enough to do a good job every day.

What I appreciate about the working atmosphere at the company:
We have a very good working atmosphere. Many employees have been with the company for a long time, some for 30 to 40 years. Former employees also come back, which says a lot about the teamwork here.
