Technology and digitalisation at Pfeifer

Future-proof processes for top performance

At Pfeifer, our aim is to continuously increase efficiency and performance. This is not only about using modern technologies, but also about well-designed operations management that unlocks all potential. The targeted use of automation and digitalisation brings cost advantages and productivity gains while also improving the quality of work for employees.

High tech in interaction

Thanks to a consistent investment policy in technology and infrastructure, the Pfeifer production sites are optimally positioned.

Lauterbach and Schlitz show that the modernisation measures of recent years have a lasting effect: the two sites work in perfect coordination, with sawn timber from Lauterbach being processed into high-quality CLT in Schlitz. This type of efficient value creation has a long tradition in our company – the principle of optimal site networking was already successfully implemented in Imst and Kundl and developed over generations.

Automation as the key to efficiency

Automated processes have long been an integral part of everyday operations in our production facilities. In Kundl in particular, we benefit from high levels of automation that enable increased performance.

The glulam plant in Imst has been highly automated for years, and the natural wood panel plant has also been successfully modernised – resulting in remarkable efficiency gains.
An outstanding example of progress in automation is the Imst solid wood panel plant, which has been comprehensively modernised in recent years with a major investment. The introduction of a fully automated production process has not only replaced heavy manual work, but also enabled a performance increase of more than 20% for the entire plant.

The last major milestone was replacing the manual cosmetics station with a fully automated system – a step that further improved efficiency and quality.

Human and machine: an intelligent symbiosis

Despite all technological progress, people remain essential at Pfeifer. Automation does not replace the expertise needed to control, maintain and further develop the plants.

Chanovice impressively shows how ideal coordination of multidimensional processing operations by motivated specialists enables peak performance.

Thranov also proves that high tech is not always necessary – what matters is using existing resources intelligently and leading and motivating the workforce as well as possible.

Digitalisation in all areas

In addition to automation in production, digitalisation plays a decisive role in other areas of the company.

Administrative processes and HR

are already highly digitalised – from application handling to innovative learning platforms.

The digital platform “PfeiferLearn” and the “myPfeifer” app

set new standards in training and internal communication and make a significant contribution to optimising work processes.
