The Pfeifer Group is about to build a cross-laminated timber plant in Lauterbach (Germany)

Pfeifer Group has completed the planning phase for the construction of a cross-laminated timber plant at the existing group site in the German town of Lauterbach (Hesse region), and is starting to take action to implement it.

Construction work is expected to begin in autumn 2017. Production capacity is designed to achieve 100,000 m3 of cross-laminated timber per year. The investment volume will be around 30 million Euros. Pfeifer's in-house project management is carried out by Mr. Josef Dringel, who also holds the position of managing director for two Czech locations. Mr. Dringel is supported in design and implementation by Ing. Anton de Menech. The two gentlemen will bring their long-standing, comprehensive know-how in the field of cross-laminated timber. For Pfeifer, this investment is a further step towards consolidating and expanding its existing market position, besides further completing Pfeifer Group's portfolio in the field of timber construction. Since glue-laminated timber, single and multi-layered solid wood panels as well as solid structural timber are already being manufactured at the Austrian and Czech sites of Imst and Chanovice, with this new production, the Group will ultimately become a complete supplier in the field of timber construction. The Lauterbach site is now an important part of Pfeifer Group. As a matter of fact, a large-scale spruce and pine sawmill, a pallet block factory, a biomass heating plant and a pelletisation plant are currently located on the 50-hectare company grounds of the site, which was put into operation in 2009. In 2016, sales for approximately 120 million euros were generated at the Lauterbach site, where 190 people are employed.
